Long story, but I re-installed the OS on my Mac and like the idiot that I am, I did not back up any data.

Now iTunes is asking me to erase and sync my iPod but I would really like to be able to somehow access the music and podcasts I have on it before I erase and sync it, so that I can reload it.

Any idea how I can do this?

Thanks!

is the information on the ipod identical to the information on the computer?

Not sure which IPOD you have. But, I doubt it. Try here. Good luck.

I used a program called iPodRip and it worked perfect. It basically takes everything in your ipod and puts it on the computer.

Thats extactly what I was going to say.... I used a program similar to this... and versiontracker.com is a great website to search for that problem. Check out that program mentioned above, if not there are many others similar in the search field of that website type in ipod and you should get a good amount of programs with their description of what they do

I think you can turn off the re-synch in options. Then you can navigate to the ipod and copy all the contents to your pc. Ive done this before with my old ipod.
Dont know if this technique still works.
