I use the lens correction tool to add a vignette.
the image layer is automatically changed to "Layer 0".
when I then use the "canvas size" tool to add a border around my image, the border is always transparent.
Anybody know why or how to stop it happening?

p.s if i save the image after adding the vignette and then re-open it, the canvas tool acts how I want it to.

thanks for any help.

Dupe the BG layer and add the vignette to that. Everything then behaves as expected. You should be doing this anyway, just so as to be non-destructive, and because you can then fade the vignette layer if you feel you overcooked it slightly. You can merge this layer with the BG layer after vignetting, btw, and it will behave normally at that point.

You could also use the 'stroke' tool to add the border.

I've never used the "stroke" tool. Is that legal in basic (or advanced, for that matter)?

I believe when you are changing the canvas size you can indicate the colour of the extension or transparent.
