Hubby bought me an 18-135 for Valentine's. I don't have the heart to tell him I don't like it. I've been playing with it a lot and I am just not happy with it. I also have an 18-200mmVR that I love- but heavy, and a 50mm f 1.8mf that I use for portraits. I want something like what I had for my Olympus- 45-150mm LOVED that lens and was always please with the pictures I got from it.
Now either I don't know what I'm doing with my new camera- that's always a possibility, or it's the lens itself.
But it's getting to be spring and I need something versatile that isn't so heavy.
Any suggestions? |

Sigma 50-150 f2.8 EX DC APO?

Well, what would work is to buy a 70-200 f/2.8 VR. That way, the 18-200 won't feel so heavy when you have it on the camera. ;-)
My suggestion would be to go to a camera shop and try out the alternatives yourself. I find the 18-200 to be nice and light, but I owned a bunch of heavier lenses first. |

| The only prob. with getting something like the "O" 45-150 is that with the crop, a 50mm becomes a 75mm. If you don't mind losing the wide angle then that's fine. The 18-200 vr is great, to have all that range. Maybe a Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 would be nice. very light and fast. |

| Buy a D40x and stick your 18-200 on it ;-) |

| My favorite walk arouund lens is my 28-70 2.8, almost never off my camera. |

Olympus is 4/3 system with a 2x crop. That means your old 40-150 3.5-4.5 (from what I see in you profile - I don't think there's a 45-150) is equivalent to a 80-300 if FF and on a Nikon DX (1.5crop) the closed in that range is a 55-200vr, quivalent to a 82-300 FF.
The lens is lighter than the 40-150 (425 vs 335 grams) but a half stop slower (4-5.6). You might want to try that.
