A couple benefits for me:
Gets the flash farther off the lens axis which eliminates red-eye and allows for a more natural looking image where the flash on camera tends to make portraits look flat.
Allows the photographer to quickly change from portrait to landscape and keep the same flash orientation. |

Thanks... I picked up one when I bought a used flash and now I'm wondering how I can put it to use...
