Hey!

Ok, I'm completely new to this, so any advice would be appreciated.

I want to make my own website. So I've found a domain I want, and now I want to register it. I'd also need some space online to host the website. I googled 'register website domain', and there seem to be literally hundreds of companies who can do this for me, and I haven't heard of any of them. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

It's an org.uk domain I want to register, and ideally I'd want to pay something in the sphere of roughly $10-$15 a month, no more. Anyone know anything about this? Please help! :)

Hi! Others may have better suggestions, but I've been happy with www.easycgi.com/. They register your domain for a year for $10, and they host for $8/month (if you pay for the year). Good luck!

I'd second that, for a first time you probably couldn't go wrong with registration+hosting from Godaddy.com. Their customer service is outstanding and their services are some of the least expensive.

GoDaddy handles my domain. My aussie version is handled via another company for obvious reasons. And my site is with LunarPages. For the whole lot I pay a lot less then what you are expecting to pay for your own.

If you're not worried about using PHP or any advanced CMS features on your website, go ahead and use godaddy. Just realize setup can be a major hassle with them. I'd go with Lunarpages, in fact I did so I could use Joomla, Wordpress and a few other things. Check the money, bandwidth and features either way.

I'm with namecheap.com (domain name) and webhostingbuzz.com (hosting).

I use dot5hosting.com and I am very satisfied. $60 a year including a free domain name. Tons of space too.

I have used Aplus.net for domain registration and found them to be good. They'll call you to see if they can sell you hosting, but they have good prices for registration. 50webs.com has free web hosting if you want to start there.

I'm another godaddy fan. I have several domains with them and 2 hosting accounts. Their customer service is top notch and the tech supppor has been helpful the 2 times I've needed them.

I prefer the Enom interface so I use Namecheap.com for my domain registrations.
For hosting I really like the small Australian company Dotable.com. You can find more bandwidth for the dollar by choosing a different host, but for the best tech support you can't beat Dotable, and that can be priceless - especially for a newbie. They have servers located in both LA and Australia.
