Both are things that I would like to get eventually, however after just buying a lens I don't have much money, in the near future im only going to be able to save enough for 1. So what do I go for? Monitor calibration (most likely Huey Pantone, my budget isnt very big) or a decent CPL?

Im torn, I don't print photos myself but when I get them done properly I obviously want them to come out the way I see them on my screen. On the flip side i'd really like to shoot some good landscapes when I move over to Norway, and even on my old Fuji I saw the benefits of a CPL.

Please help!

What are your priorities?

Better landscape shots
or
More accurate prints?

What order you put these will help you determine what to get first. We can't decide for you.

Hmm, well to be honest I don't get many prints at the moment, so im inclined to say 'better landscape shots'. However, im worried that doing all my editing on an uncalibrated screen is going to have an effect on those landscape shots.

Also, soon I plan to start shooting RAW for most occasions- how much difference is an uncalibrated monitor going to make on WB adjustments etc?

Im leaning towards calibration right now.

The problem is, both are needed. It's all in what you consider most important, right now.

Anders, if it's for your Tokina and my Amazon research is correct that it requires a 77mm filter, I can help you. I have an extra circular polarizer that is slightly scratched, but it's definitely usable. You need to pay for postage from Sweden, though. PM me if you want it. Also, just wanted to say that I vote for you getting a calibrator and saving up for filters, if you have to choose.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I think it's gonna be the calibration, although I keep all my orginals I would hate to have to go back and re-edit any shots I decide to get printed.

Thankyou for your very kind offer Amy, I sent you a PM.

Calibrate. Especially if you are going to compete.
