Ummm, I don''t know but my shot for the "on the Road" challenge is not there.... Any reasons why? I called it "Almost Safe" It was a snail crossing the road.... : ( I would ask you to resubmit it but I know the rules. And also, do you choose the photos that go into the current challenge? I somehow don''t think so since this is a peer based competition.

Did you get a confirmation screen when you submitted your photo? A confirming email? I have problems submitting while my firewall is running... it gives me no confirmation and does not accept the photo...

Oh, geez, Sam, I'm sorry. Your shot sounds kinda cool, too. This happened to me the first time I submitted, my firewall always causes me problems but I didn't know that then. It's only when you see your photo on your home page that you know it submitted successfully (and the email notification if you signed up for that). Hang in there, and try again for the current challenge!

Wait, this actualy sounds original, don't you mean a shot of a snail reflected in a rear view mirror, that was the theme wasn,t it? Rear view mirror shots?

Zeiss... when you've seen enough challenges you'll come to realise that there is a special kind of definition of the word 'cliche' on this site :). I find it really interesting. People try to predict what the cliche will be, but usually get it wrong. It's some kind of weird synergy (I still like that word, even though it was killed by marketroids), that leads a bunch of people to all read a couple of sentences and think of the same picture to go with it. The human mind is a funny thing.

I had a great one called trashed truck and I don't see it there... great shot too... oh well

I am really suprised there are not more shots of dinner, truck stops, grills, and such.

There are two old wrecked cars on a part of route 66 up by meteor crater I reallly wanted to shoot again for this, but I did not have time with the new baby and all.

Mine is pretty original, but sometimes there are reasons why no one has ever done it before.

Yeah yeah, I think it is actually after you run over something, look in the rear view and shoot it kinda thing... yeah that's right! What are you smokin' dude?

Sam -- sorry your entry didn't get in, as I probaly have given it a 7 or 8 at least. My Comment: I like the way you caught the snail stretched out, suggesting speed, and the very narrow DOF to hint at a motion blur without actually having one (in addition to isolating the subject from the fore/background). Look forward to seeing your next entry!

Thanks guys... I mean it, you have given me a big boost of confidence that hopefully will take me into the shadow world of decent photography.

That was a cool looking snail. If it were in the challenge, I probably would have commented on the leaf or whatever it was in the background, but given you a high score. I hope the little thing didn't get smooshed. If so, maybe you could've done before and after shots. :-)
