Hi friends, I find this info, maybe is interesting...
The IYR Global Photography Contest "Rice is Life" is an invitation to reflect on the vital importance of rice to world agriculture, food security, society and culture.
Background
The International Year of Rice promotes improved production and access to this vital food crop, which feeds more than half of the world population while providing income for millions of rice producers, processors and traders. The development of sustainable rice-based systems will reduce hunger and poverty and contribute to environmental conservation and a better life for present and future generations.
The objective of the IYR Global Photography Contest is to enhance awareness of rice related issues among public at large and those who may not realize their stake in rice production. The contest will acknowledge the best photographs related to the IYR slogan "Rice is Life".
Submission of material will take place from 15 January 2004 - 30 July 2004. Recipients of the top three prizes of each category will be honoured by FAO at a special event held in Rome in connection with the World Food Day, 16 October 2004.
