I flew into St. Louis this morning (3/02/04) and as we were going down the run way I saw an Air National Guard F-15 that took a wrong turn and went off into the grass, well the front tire sank into the mud, there were some people standing around looking at it.

Sorry this pic is of poor quality, but its the best I could get for the distance I was from it.

U would think that those things would have 4-wheel drive as much as they cost.

No problem if it was a Harrier :)

Is it all right in USA take Photographs of defense fighter Planes, no crime in India but bit restriction as in no shooting areas that can be bombed by enemy during war, like defense installation, airports, railway station

I worked on these aircraft for 11 years. They are undefeated in air combat, but they aren't much good at offroading. Thanks for the shot.

I guess in the USA, it depends on where you are at, some military installations have standard security patrols that drive the perimeter looking for suspicious activity (ie.. photography and tresspass). Im not sure what will happen to you if caught photographing the layout of the area or the equipment, maybe some type of probe will be implanted for tracking you later on....

In the airport here in St. Louis I have not seen any signs warning to NOT photograph anything. Other airports have signs....

If I'm not mistaken, the f15 squadron at st. louis is air national guard. Since they are integrated with the stl intl airport, there would be no restrictions on something like this.

There are two amazing cases on this plane where it lost an entire wing while in flight, and still landed safely! One was a mid air collision in training and I beleive the other was hit by a rocket.
I'm sure the pilot could get it out of the mud if they really wanted to (might be some landing gear damage though...).

PS unless one of the newer soviet jets can do it now, this is the only plane in the world that can accelerate going straight up.

Nice pic
