Anyone here feel hard done by that we can't edit out dust spots in the open challenge?

I took several decent images yesterday and upon returning half excited, my hopes were dashed due to 2 huge black specs of dust on every image.

This is 2 days after I took it to Nikon for a free CCD clean! I don't want to be able to get rid of every imperfection, but huge dust spots would be a nice exception.

I think it would be difficult to allow dust spot removal, but not cloning out of other items.

Agree with Jamie. I think it´s good to have challenges with minimum editing expecially since on others were you can edit things like that

I read "advanced editting" for the March open challenge. Am I missing something? -- OOPs just noticed that challenge is called Free Study -- never mind -- way too early:)

Paid the same price for the cleaning as for the camera, eh!

Sorry jonpink, but I don't think you are going to get much sympathy from the many who still chafe at how the rules were changed for the members only challenges. And maybe not much sympathy from those not burdened with dust on the sensor in our fixed lens cameras. "Huge" specks, and ruined shots because of them, are part and parcel of interchangeable lenses. Sooner or later you are going to want to get that "huge" speck of dust off your sensor. Would you then advocate changing the rules back?

That's why it's called "basic editing"

But, every once in a while if you would change the
rules, it wouldn't be a photography anymore...

That's the beauty of it, to capture something
in one moment, and keep it that way.

be well!
