And where do you find them?

Cheers

The Brown Ribbon winner of each challenge has the worst score. They don't really win a Brown Ribbon (well, not yet, anyway ;-)

Ahhh! Cheers Irene.

Won't be any of yours then. ;-)

You can find them here.

You can also find them HERE. ;-)

BTW, will the DNMC police be crawling out from under their collective rock if an image wasn't dead last?

I would imagine so. There is only one Brown Ribbon winner, just as there is only one Blue Ribbon winner ;-)

I actually think one of the stipulations of the challenge should be a DQ if it is not a dead last photo seeing they are telling us brown ribbon... Just my 2 cents worth though.

Some interesting browns. This one got a brown quite by accident, it would have done well in an appropriate challenge.

So, what if I do a lousy version of this?

Interesting subject. I'm going to go have a look through Whiterook's stuff for inspiration. I love his attitude.

That one's not a brown ribbon. It was 137/138. This was the brown in that challenge (there's nothing wrong with your screen; someone entered a gray square):

My version of a "brown"

The only reason this one was a "brown" is that it was submitted in the wrong challenge. "Candid" instead of "Painting With Light". How annoying!

Challenge Details: Find a brown ribbon winner, and try to turn that entry into a entry that is excellent.

My question... does this mean that we should take a brown-ribbon winner and actually change that entry into our entry, or to make our own version of that entry.

I know that it is probably the latter choice, but the wording throws me.

Help???

IMO it's definitely the latter.

Well I'm delighted to see this challenge. It was one of my suggestions and I hadn't even realised that it had been taken up.

To answer Dantzr's question - the idea of this (originally) was that every one that submits an entry normally hopes that they have a chance of getting a decent score or even winning . . but alas they fail to get there for many reasons. Generally speaking it doesn't take too long to work out why.

To me this is almost an educational challenge where people can look at a picture that failed, and taking it as a template show how it could and perhaps should have been done : )

Best bit of all is hopefully some people will get to see there original shot displayed photographically as they originally saw it in their mind - heck maybe even better !

I guess this would be the UBER-Brown:

Placing = -1

How the heck did Whiterook manage to get a 617 out of 616 ? Beat THAT! ;O)

I wonder who will get the brown ribbon for the brown ribbon challenge? :)

Whiterook 3-2
Charliebaker 8-1
TheField 20-1

caveat- if senoj enters it will be a pick'em but I'll bet on the dame.

Hi,
I looked at some of the photos on this link and not all of them were last? Is all the photos in this link considered "Brown"

No, the linked are the lowest-rated overall at the site, but not all of them finished last in the challenge in which they were entered.

That's an interesting one. I say if you try it and don't get 30 favs like that one got you failed at the task of making it better.
