It was a cracking day on the 6th Feb over Wales. To top it all the skies were full (almost :-) of F15's. I really like this aircraft.

They were all taken using the Canon 40D. The lens was the 100-400 F5.6 IS L. I am hoping to upgrade to the 300mm f2.8 if resources allow.I hope you enjoy the shots. I had a ball taking them.

Yes, great shots! Where were you...? It looks like you were above the planes.

i can never capture the lines coming off the wings like you did, im guessing its moisture in the air that creates that?

I read an article recently with an RAF commander talking about flying an f15 against the yf-22's in a joint war game between the USAF, the RAF, and the Australian forces, I think he called it "really annoying". I think that was probably a bit of dry humor.

Nice shots, I like the contrails.

How did you get this vantagepoint for these shots?
Great work BTW, and yes, very cool planes.

If it's like the last shoot, he's high on a hillside above the valley they are flying through.

Yes, that's right. It's quite a climb up but as you can see it's well worth it. There are only about 4 places where you can go where the aircraft come close enough for you to be able to get a decent shot of them. Traffic is not guaranteed. I have spent many hours up in the hills,in all weathers, with nothing to show for it.

My favourite aircraft are the F15 and the Tornado Gr4. They both look and sound impressive at low level.

Rory the next time you hear of this could you please contact me. I'm coming over to film this, this is just too damn cool to not go and shoot. I'll bring a 400mm 2.8 for just for you hooking me up (the lens will be coming home with me just so you know)
