Hey, I just caught 2 big flies in my moms bathroom with the assistance of my brother and dad, fun to say the least. Any ways, I know putting them in the freezer kills them without ruining them, so how long do you freeze these guys for? Also, what should I shoot them on, a leaf, a flower?

On my way out to the garage freezer, I found a huge ant in there, how long do you freeze those for?

NAPCB
National association for the prevention of cruelty to bugs will get you.
The cold will stun them and they look dead but will often wake up!
:) Sounds fun, get some shots and post.

even in the freezer for like, 2 hours? Also, my dad sprayed room deodorizer to slow them down so we can catch them, I assume this could kill it along with the cold.

You may be surprised what they can endure and still live.

The first two are dead. Actually they are one and the same. I found it on the whiper on my car.

The others were actually taken out in the field. The one with the mesh was caught in a net.

so do you think that even after the room deodorizer and freezing for a day or two, the bugs can still spring back to life?

Sure, try this, tie a long hair around the leg of one of them and tape the other end of the hair to a table, when it wakes up you can watch it fly around in circles. If you have a long enough hair you could give it to a kid to use as a balloon replacement!

There's a lot more to do with flys than just take pictures of them:

I'm not biologist but I think it's safe to say those flies are deader than dead.
