I have tried this several times over the past year, but Phoenix photographers seem to be shy or something..... Anyway I would like to propose a Phoenix area GTG. I was thinking of attending the Hoop Dance championships at the heard museum. here are the details:

Date(s): 2/9/2008 - 2/10/2008
Time: All Day Event, gates open at 9:30 AM
Location: Heard Museum
Details: Experience the fast-paced precision and grace of hoop dancing at the World Championship Hoop Dance Contest. Top hoop dancers from the United States and Canada compete for cash prizes and the World Champion title. Visitors can enjoy dance performances as well as delicious fry bread and other American Indian foods. Held on the museum grounds, admission to the museum is included.

Fees: $10 adults; $9 for seniors (65+); $3 for children (4-12); and FREE for children under 4.

I love the idea! That will be a great photo op! I need to check the old schedule but I would really like to go!

I am thinking Saturday and being there first thing to see the the tiny tots! But I still need to check with my girl and see if she has plans for me that I don't know about yet...

It would have to be Sunday for me now too. I am sure the little ones are cute, but the men dancing on Sunday have been doing this for years and i suspect better character shots.

Sunday it is! And of course the "Pros" will be great too and shoot no one is telling me I can't go on Saturday. :-P So we will see you Sunday I will be the tallest guy there with a camera heck prolly the tallest guy there.
