I think this one could be fairly hysterical.

The reason I thought it, was when I first came to America, I thought Denver was the capital of Texas. (We did not learn anything about America in school)

The other misunderstanding that I did was,, (eek I can not believe I am reveling this one)

I worked for a temp agency, and was sent to a helicopter factory as receptionist. I had an urgent delivery to a guy on the floor. Now keep in mind that I had only been in the US a month.

SO over the intercom, I page this guy.

"Jesus, there is a package for you at front desk, Jesus would you come to the front desk."

I thought Arizona must be very religious state to have named people Jesus.

In Spanish, the J is an H.

For a week, I kept getting people come to the desk asking me to page Jesus. They thought it was hilarous, I couldnt understand the snickers and downright rolling on the floor laughing.

I was mortified when someone finally told me what I was doing!!

They knew I had no idea and was blonde!!!!

That's a pretty serious mistake. Everyone in America knows that Jesus works at the State Department, not some helicopter factory.

Great story!

Hmmmmm, I hope you properly paid them back with a practical joke
of your own! heheheheh

What is your home country? Only if you don't mind my asking.
Your English seems perfect. Probably much better than mine. ;)

you know, I've also thought it would be funny to have a "Misunderstanding" or "Miscommunication" challenge

No I didn't get them back, I was too busy hiding under the desk never to be seen again!

I was born in Germany, went back to England when I was about 5, stayed there until I was 21 then moved to Arizona, then back home for 2 years and then back here again

As my British pal says, "It IS called English.

I grew up in Tucson. How do you like it there?

Welllll, I haven't moved. The summers we always go back to England for a month or two to beat the heat. The rest of the year is just to die for. Right now it is about 66 degrees and sunny with a slight overcast.

If you haven't been back in a while, you will be so shocked at everything that has changed. I can go 4 months without going ot one part of town and I swear it has grown into a city. It is so different now.
