Men...rofl! :P
Have another beer and try to think this through, lol!

At least they used electrical tape!

Or maybe it's just black duct tape???

Pure water does not conduct electricity, so they will be ok as long as nobody pees in the pool LOL. Crazy. Like the flip flop floats.

I hope that wasn't really plugged in.
Another nod to the Darwin awards, I guess.

He's right.
Pure water is an insulator. But it is hard to make pure water.
Look here.

Is that an electric griddle? Why would you put your beer next to that thing?

Nothing worse than warm beer.

This is so stupid, I have to think the scene was staged for the "shock value".

Do you really think they filled the pool with distilled water? From the looks of it, they probably needed help just to figure out how to set the thing up :)

Getting a jolt on the Darwin Awards?

If you think about it, even if this was real (which I doubt), they would have to be grounded to have electricity go through them. Standing on a PVC pool floor, they aren't grounded. Now should one of them step out and leave one foot in the water as he puts the other one on the ground... Bug Zapper! Right through the ole family glass jewels. :D

Besides, if you look, that's a waterproof plug plugged into the power strip. See the protective cup around it so it won't get wet? ;)

I swear...why do people gotta put up my personal pictures on here? And by the way, we had an electrifying time that day.

No matter how pure water you have filled it up, as soon as you get into it, your dirty underwear comes into play. And rest is ...

Completely agree.... They are out of their mind getting beer near something that hot.... I would recommend a small bar fridge on a chair next to the table.... They have a spare power plug or could just whack a double adapter on one of those points :-)

I have to say, assuming that's someones house in the background - one of those dumb asses sure has some cash.

Looks like a rather large backyard.

If they're that rich, why do they have an inflatable pool? ;-)

I'd refer to Mythbusters when they dropped electrical appliances into the tub. The dummy got enough of a jolt to be killed and I wouldn't call a regular porcelain tub conductive. Likewise, you certainly get out of the pool if lightning is in the area...

I can't believe that anyone would actually be stupid enough to try what they are doing in the photo, or on second though,,, maybe not.

In the Mythbusters, the plumbing fixtures (drain) were metal, and grounded. At 120 volts, there would be some leakage current with any normal purity of water as everyone has said.
Kids, don't try this, ever, anywhere.

That's just silly. Everybody knows you're supposed to wait 30 minutes after eating to enter a pool! What are they thinking? :-)
01/25/2008 12:50:07 AM · #23
I really hate eating with wet hands... especially pool water.
01/25/2008 01:15:47 AM · #24
It's not water, it's gin. Even rich people can't afford to fill a whole swimming pool with it - just have to do the best they can like everyone else.

Yep, as Melon said, a tub, while a tub is usually coated, it only takes one chip to expose metal or grabing hold of the metal (and grounded) faucet to provide a path for electricity. And if you don't have a path, you can be sitting on 20,000 volts (there was a video of high tension wire inspectors not too long ago) and not feel a thing... well, if you did feel a thing, you wouldn't feel it for long. ;D

But a simple 110 voltage would have a hard time jumping very far without a good path to ground. More than likely, if this is plugged in outside and the house is to code (even if the people aren't), it's on a gound fault isolation circuit and the circuit would pop before more than a dribble of current leaked into the water.

Hmmm, I wonder who we can get to test out this theory? :D
