Has anybody else had the problem that their reflex mirror has fallen off? Is it a problem with the 5D's - I read on the internet that it is a commom problem.

I was at a wedding photo shoot last night when my view finder went dark and i couldn't see anything hence I couldn't take anymore shots. When I took the lens off, the reflex mirror fell onto the floor. I luckily always carry a back up camera with me - my 20D. Next trick is to get a good place to get it repaired, I doubt they could do it here in Mauritius.

Yes...as I will quote from another thread in October/November 2007.
In early October, right in the middle of the wedding vows of one of our clients...one of my 5D's stopped working. Fortunately as I was swapping lenses to my other 5D, one look to Ricco and we didn't miss a beat. It wasn't until after the ceremony that I got a chance to have a closer look only to find the mirror had fallen out of the guts.
Today I got my 5D back with a new Mirror Housing. And about a $680-00 repair bill to go with it. But worth it. I have my baby back. That's the mirror in the little plastic bag next to the housing. The new housing is in the camera.
I have read that this seems to happen moreso in the Asian countries...something to do with the heat and humidity. The Canon people hear were shocked when I told them what happened to my 5D.
