I would like to try out some panos and I was wondering if any of you know of a good place to get a shot of downtown against the mountains. There is a spot near my parents' house that I can get a good open view of the mountain range, but I think it would look better with some buildings there too. Any suggestions on where to try? Thanks in advance.

I love the view from Ensign Peak - but it's better for looking toward the south. The 10th floor of the J. Smith Memorial Building has a great view on the east side.

Perhaps a view from the Capitol Building would get what you want. I also like the view from the Salt Lake City Cemetary in the Avenues.

Let me know how it works.

Travis, also check out the link to the Red Rocks GTG. You're close enough to join in.

Those places seem to be facing the wrong way, I would like to shoot looking East and get the city line, but the focus mostly being the mountains. I saw your PM and meant to write you back, right now it doesn't look like my wife and I will be able to go, but I will keep checking the thread and we will see what happens as it gets closer.

ETA: I guess I could try from the capital, I do want to head up there anyway now that it is reopened.
