Call me crazy, but I have just ordered myself a Lomo with a ringflash and Flash. I hope digital photography did not spoil me too much and that it rather prepared me for this retro step. Not that I have any illusions.

Anyone else out there with a lomo? Any advise?

My plan is to shoot slides and scan to electronic files.

I shoot film almost exclusively (besides the occasional digi shot here and there), and the demons of lomo pulled me in at a time. I got a fisheye and a holga I think. They're fun as hell, no doubt. I don't have a problem with the cameras, it's the marketing of them.

The idea of lomography as a company is amazing, to tell you the truth: Make crappy camera on the cheap, sell as uber expensive trendy camera.

That being said, it does provide a reason for the masses to still use film (and a reason for the companies to keep making it), and it does make some great results. Crossprocess slides in C41 to add some punch.

I plan to buy a Holga shortly, so I'll follow this thread with great interest.

Bump.

I hope to have more fun than anything else...

I've been thinking about it. It may be just as good to use a couple of the '50's era cameras from my collection.

I went through a Lomo phase a few years back: //www.lomohomes.com/nickster

What really attracted me wasn't so much the camera but their 'missions' - basically the same as the challenges here. The DC-A itself is fun and handy, produces trademark vignetted/high sat images, but also breaks really easily. Fun but often 'art by luck and/or heavy interpretation and patience'.

It'll be interesting going back to film though. Fun stuff to try: pop in Velvia and cross process for really whacky colours.
