What is the cheapest way to remote flash my 430ex? I know that in slave the 580 will remote fire it. I want to use the 430 on it's stand for macro shots since it will not rotate past 90 degrees down towards the lens to use while on the camera. Thanks

Do you have a 580EX? If so then that would be the easiest way. If not, you can get a cheap optical slave unit that will fit on the hot shoe of the flash and fire off of the on board flash. The thing you have to look out for in this situation is the ETTL preflash which will set off the flash before the real flash fires.

No I just bought the 430 from best buy today since my on board one is broken.

If your on board is broken, your best bet is an off camera cord. They run about $50 and retain ETTL ability.

The ST-E2 Speedlight transmitter isn't too badly priced. And when you do get another flash you can control them both, ETTL too.
