I know I'm a good photographer, but for some reason I always tank here at DPC (yet to break the 6 mark). I am just looking to see what the DPC community thinks of this project.

Alright.

In my personal opinion, I love the concept, and on most of the pictures, I love the difference in color, and the vivid color differences.

The blue picnic table seat, with the red strawberry, very nice.

The concept is great, the set-ups are great, but a couple things I would work on...

-The sharpness/focus of the strawberry. In some of the pictures, the strawberry doesn't look as sharp/in focus as it could.
-The color vividness of the actual strawberry kinda lacks the vividness that some of the other colors that are around the scene have. For instance, the green end of the strawberry looks kinda pale in some shots. So perhaps saturating/contrasting the green.

But overall, I enjoyed looking at the shots. Very nice and unique.

All the best,
-AC

Overall i think it's a very cool concept :O)

For the most part, the images a great, and it makes you want to keep clicking to see what's next. On that line of thinking though, there were a few too many similar shots (on the blue benches). While at first it's cool (striking contrast) it got old by the 4th blue-bench shot. For something like this - i really think that every image needs to be unique & pack it's own "punch".

I'd drop DSC_9775 (redundant & not quite focused enough), and DSC_9820 (redundant - you get the better effect with the panned out version in the next frame).

Also - not even sure what DSC_9879 is. A smashed one in a snow bank ?

Again... I like the idea. I think there's a lot of potential to be a larger project. Definitely some cool images.

Just my 2c. :O)

I totally agree with you on that. I will be paying more attention to this next time I'm out with the strawberry's

Basically what I was aiming for was that the strawberry was stepped on, therefore ending this volume of the Strawberry Dreams. It was hard with the lighting to get any significant detail in the footprint in the snow. I can't wait until my wireless ebay-triggers come.

Very much appreciated :D

Attention to detail. The upper right corner does a good job of needlessly spoiling the rest of the image.

good idea. I was thinking the order of the pictures could be better. If all the bench ones were together it would seem more planned. With them scattered throughout, it seems they are used to fill the space and make the slideshow longer.

So, just to clarify, there are only 2 bench images in the entire set (9769 and 9841), 9775 is taken on the steps of one of the playgrounds at the park, 9820 and 9822 were taken on a walkway on the playground, and the reason I have included both is because of the 2 very different feels of each shot. 9820 feels like it has a certain "cool" look cause of the tilt and shallow focus, and 9822 is a very still, quiet shot.

As for the order, they are in the order I took them, and as far as physical space goes, I started at one end of the playground and worked my way towards the other, so there is a flow, but I guess I overlooked the flow of the actual images. I will definitely watch that next time.

I am definitely noticing that I need to learn to take a step back and try and view the photos in a less subjective eye.

I personally like having that spot at the top of the first image, as it draws my eye through the picture and creates a feeling of distance covered that you don't get when it's just blurred snow. It's not a matter of attention to detail, it's a matter of a different feel for the photo. DPC people have a habit of wanting to follow the "rules" without really looking at them on an individual basis. Sometimes the "rules" are there because they work, but no one would get anywhere if nobody challenged the "rules" sometimes. I think this is why I always do bad in my entries (along with many other small things due to my own fault). It's ok if it doesn't work for you (I am asking for your opinion), but you don't need to use condescending phrases like "Attention to detail." and "needlessly spoiling". Just because I ask for feedback doesn't mean you can't try and use some tact.

This is very good though, because I am learning a lot about DPC voters here. While I still believe something different, if I desire success, I must deliver what is wanted.

Anyone from the weekend crowd? (I don't mind more comments as long as you can exercise a little bit of tact and comment on the images without tearing me down.) :D

Sorry but I disagree. It doesn't draw your eye through the image, it immediately pulls it to the top right corner and spoils an otherwise nice shot. It looks completely incidental as if you just forgot to crop the image.

My feedback was not overly harsh, it was honest and not bound in some 'by the rules' mentality. Take it for consideration or dismiss it completely. I'm sure you will get 1 critical comment for every 99 "oh my god how beautiful, you're such an artist" comments as happens in most of these threads so there's no need to get touchy about it.

If you ask for feedback, expect to get a mix of responses and opinions - that is, afterall, what you're seeking. If you just want praise for the project, consider changing the title of the thread.

As for routerguy's comments - there's nothing at all condescending about them. He simply did what you asked, and gave you his opinion. Trust me... he WAS being nice. ;o)

Note: If you're going to ask for more feedback in the future, you might want to try some of this. <--- not at all condescending (meant to put a smile on your face) ;O)

sorry, I was speaking of the blue seat thing(s?). There are four that look very much alike. They might be different locations but they look alike and I guess I was thinking they were the same and should follow each other. But maybe that particular color scheme is overworked in the project.

I consider myself an "artist" of sorts, but I have to tell you that I come on this website all the time, and I see the same thing over and over. People wondering why others don't "get" their photos, and that sort of thing. If you want my honest opinion...there's no point to this series. At least it's nothing that jumps out at me. And, I'm a firm believer that to be truly successful as an artist, you have to take your artistic vision and then have it make sense to the average person. Otherwise, they're just a bunch of really rather pointless, out of focus shots of strawberries in weird places. I know that this may come off very harsh, and I'm sorry if it hurts your feelings. But, I just see way too many people taking a photo of an object in an "out of place" setting and calling it art. Enough is enough!!! Does anyone else feel me on this????
