It snowed today!!! First snow of the season. I can't help but sing the tune "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas". And so ... I packed up the camera and headed to downtown Salt Lake City to capture the Christmas sights (snow and lights). Here are some of the images I captured:

Lovely, David - thanks for sharing these! Fun shots with the fisheye, too.

Great shots! Love the colours on the lights.

Just a quick comment I forgot to add to my original post:

As usual (for me), all of these are unedited shots, straight out of Adobe Lightroom. The fisheye images were shot with the Canon 5D and Canon 15mm 2.8 Fisheye. The rest of the images were shot with the 1D Mark III and the Canon 24-70 2.8L lens.

Very nice and winter wonderland. Christmas just doesn't seem the same without snow. Oh well. I guess I have the first part of your song.

The sun is shining
The grass is green
The orange and palm trees sway.
I've never seen such a day
In Kilauea, Hawaii.
But it's December the 24th
And I am longing to be up North.

I live up North and there ain't no snow here.

I do love the snow for Christmas. Does a sno-cone count?

I'm putting together a screen saver based on images from last night and the last couple of years. I'd like to be able to share the screen saver (about 22mb) for free.

Obviously the file is too big for email. Anyone have any suggestions on where to host a free download?

You could zip it up, GMAIL can handle up to 20MB.

I would say www.box.net I think that is the right link, its a website you can set up an online storage space up to like 1 Gb. I tend to put stuff in there and send the info to whom ever I want to have it...

Awesome! I just spent an hour and a half shovelling the stuff...it's so much nicer in digital form.

By the way, the screen saver ended up being 45Mb in size! (I added a few more pictures 94 total)

David, you defiantly did Temple Square justice! Beautiful shots, the fisheye are a cool new way to view it. We got as much (well, more) snow as you got up there! Its supposed to snow more this week!
Great job.

There was one thing I didn't shoot ... and it was killing me!!!

While I was there taking pictures of the temple, I saw two newlywed couples. They must have had a very late ceremony! Anyway, I saw them walking around and I was thinking how AWESOME it would be, to do pictures of the newlyweds right there amongst the Christmas lights on Temple Square. I mean ... how many newlyweds get that kind of shot?!?

Oh man! That sucks! They would have died to get those types of shots!

Just a bump to help spread the screen saver.
