My wife and I have a timeshare and we are thinking of trading it this year and going some place interesting and good for photography. Can you give me some ideas where you would go if you had this chance. Also if you have so images from this location it would also be helpful.

Thanks
Rich

Hawai'i - Especially the Big Island (live volcanos, green and black and white sand beaches), Maui (Haleakala at sunrise is insane!), and Kaua'i (Waimea Canyon, Napali Coast, waterfalls).

If that is a bit too far, how about New Hampshire...I hear it is nice. ;-)

Now not to sound ignorant but what is there to shoot that makes this Gods gift to photographers?

Thanks,

Plenty of timeshares in Scotland. I've got one in a castle somewhere.

RCI has plenty of locations.

I have offerd to share my home with any DPCers that wish to visit. So you see, there is a time share, and it's the best kind.... free room :)

Yup - what he said. You cannot take a bad picture in Hawaii. Take a helicopter tour! But get a chopper with no doors. They reflect even if you wear their recommended black clothing.
And NH IS nice. I lived there for 20 years :)

My vote is for Maui. The naturally saturated colors being tickled with dusk's sunlight can be wonderful ...

I second Hawaii! Especially Kauai. It offers everything from underwater photography to lush jungle, spectacular waterfalls and desert canyons... all in a relatively small area. Kinda hard to miss.

Here are some posts from an earlier thread with some links for more detail:

Point Lobos State Reserve is one of the most-photographed pieces of shoreline in the US. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is supposed to be great, but I haven't made it there myself. When I was very young, I lived on the dunes near Asilomar beach facing the ocean in Pacific Grove; the conference center was designed by Julia Morgan, probably the foremost female architect in US history.

If you head north past Santa Cruz you also get to Año Nuevo State Reserve.

Farther to the south past Pt. Lobos is the Big Sur area ...
