HI!
I reciently bought the 2gb sandisk curzer micro and it worked wonerful for quite some time. after the period of about a month and a half it just stopped working for me. i would plug it and and it wouldnt light up or be recognised on the computer. im just wondering if theres any way if i could get a new one to replace the old one or if i should just give up on sandisk, which i have been using for all my photography needs,(SD cards for my mp3 player to XD olympus cards for my camera) and have had minimal problems with. and jump off the band wagon and go with someone else like lexar or Kingston maybe even kodak.... :P not kodak:P. which i really wouldnt fo that far. With all the sandisc products i have used, i do have to say, this was the cheepest one ive ever had. I used to have a sandisk cruzer jump drive i found at school. it was a one giger, and the usb input edge was busted and you could bend it sideways. that thing went through the washer and dryer at least 5 or 6 times, and it still works, even with the bend head. i needed a bigger one so i got this. and for $40.00 and never going through the washer and dryer but just dien from normal use. i have to say it is the crappiest, most junkiest pile of plastic and medal you guys could sell let alone proudly put your name on. was it even tested? well anyway, thank you for your time. Jake Vetter

think they will like, its already sent, i cant wait for a reply from them:) i just had alota steam to blow off. ill probably end up going to the store and buying one and swapping it out and returning the broke one. but whatever. anythings worth a try.

Sandisk seems to work great. I guess it happens once in a while. I know people who bought Seagate drives and they stopped working within months. I have two 40GB ones which have been going strong for over 5 years in my PC.

Did you try to connect and access it from a different computer? Someone elses? I have a hard drive that just decided to quit on my Mac (after an update), made sure everything else was working, the took it to work and plugged it in, and voila! it still worked.

My 2Gb cruzer died after several months of usage as well.... I just tossed it. Not worth the fight. <sigh>

For what it's worth, I had it running with Vista (where vista is supposed to page out to it or something). Maybe that "overworked" the poor cruzer? I dunno. Oh well.

I've had a Sandisk Cruzer Mini for years that still works great. If you've had it for only a month and half (as you stated), it should still be covered under warranty, so there shouldn't be any problem in getting it replaced (I don't know what the warranty is, but it's probably at least 90 days). On the other hand, your letter was so poorly written that they might not understand what you want from them. You might be surprised at how much more respect you can get from people if you write well. Also, companies like brand loyalty, and you said you've had lots of Sandisk products that worked fine, but you're immediately ready to jump ship just because one item quit working ... and you don't even indicate on there if you have done any troubleshooting. It could just as easily be the USB port that isn't working, or something wrong in Windows (driver problem), and you don't say whether you tested it in a different computer. You may have tried those things, but you need to tell them that -- I certainly wouldn't send you a new one based on the content of this letter, especially if you didn't also forward them some proof of purchase date.

so, you call their product junky and crappy and want them to send you a new one?

you catch more flies with BS than with language like "junkiest."

fwiw, Consumerist has a great deal of tactics to use when dealing with crappy, junky companies.

lol, i got a email from them telling me to go in device manger and uninstall it. do they think people who buy there products are dumb, when something dosnt work or is said to be dead. it is un usable. most likely this email is just a copy paste from 11.324 or some number out of some guide book they have:P i think i am going to do what i usually do:P buy a new one, swap them and return the broken one.

^ yes, 90% of the time it is user error or a configuration problem. So have you tried what they suggested, or are you just blowing them off? Just like in your original letter to them, you omit details that make people wonder whether you have actually done your due diligence before complaining about something.

ive done as much as i can, i cant even acces the disc, it runs on no computer i have tried it on my computer, my brothers, my sisters laptop, my neighbors, the thing is dead, i am unalbe to do what they ask because the thing is not even recognised by the computer. let alone i cant access it using command or through the device manager, it is like it is not even there.

I never realised brand loyalty existed for something like storage media.

So someone else will buy the broken one? If it is out of warranty it is out of warranty. This is why us honest people pay more for a product then we really should. This is the same as asking for a handout and not really needing it. Wrong IMO.

no they have to send the box back to the company if it is deemed as not working. i got a message from them they are gonig to send a new one and include a 2 year warranty on the new product:) they are pritty good with service, we basicaly emailed back and fourth for 10 minutes and it was solved. I still love them. even if this thing is one of there cheeper products

agreed - just like the neighbor who bought a motorcycle this spring (with NO training or education or instruction!). The moron wrecked twice the first week, THEN decided he didn't want to pay to have it repaired... so he CLAIMED that someone stole it & wrote it off on insurance.

Meanwhile, MY rate has gone up.

So did you report him to the insurance fraud hotline?

Turn him in for insurance fraud. He could also be charged with filing a false police report.

that's good, my point was that you should state this kind of information in the initial emails so that you can avoid the back-and-forth of them asking you to try things you've already done. Saves time and frustration.
