Morgan Horse? Nice feel to the image with the snow being kicked up - oddly the plow or rake marks are distracting and fight with the direction of the horse's trotting

I left a comment under the pitcher, leaf.

hey there. thanks for the comments.

and yes it is a morgan... good eye. My dad loves morgans and we seem to be getting more and more of them by 'accident' as we have a stalion (the one in the picture) that keeps getting out.

Leaf,

I think it's a great photo. My only suggestion would be to crop the sky more.

It's a great photo and you can almost feel the chill in the air :-)
Great horse, too.

awful black line in the border - but nice pic.

i like the horse and its movement and how you have captured it in this seemingly endless looking place...it has strong qualities especially in the composition i think.. a man on a horse being in a place desertlike...but negative points are: the border, too much white and the face of the men should have more detaails...

thanks for the reply's...
yeah i am having troubles figuring out borders and what is nice.
i think borders ARE important when posting here because generally when displayed they will have a fram and so in lue of a frame i feel borders are good.. HOWEVER.. moderation is the keey.. even if it is a 1 or 2 pixel grey, black or white border i feel i like them... but perhaps this was a bit over the top.. i dunno... i seem to be getting a lot of flak about it... and perhaps i agree... hmmm....

allright i re-edited it a bit.. took out the border and worked on the face a bit....

i still think i might light the border though..... or SOME border at least...
... more than just a gstring around the edge.

i like this border much better...i think the other one was intruding into the picture a bit too much.. but no 2 person ever will agree on the same thing you know... sometimes you have to do what you gotta do...

I hope you don't mind, I had a quick go myself..

I think the white helps show the colour in the shot, and also adds depth.

No border. WHen you mat this and frame it, it'll be beautiful. The neutral grey screen on DPC seems to frame everything pretty well - no pic runs into the screen background when there's no border to define it. But a dozen people just told you to keep a border, and only Jonpink and I said otherwise - I think we should start a club. He-Man Border Haters Club [from the Little Rascals].

man.. i think i gotta figure out a way to calibrate my laptop at least a LITTLE better... you say the grey screen of DPC.. well until now i thought i was a light blue... :S

i have read.. and think it is rather hard/impossible to calibrate a laptop screen.. and it doesn't help that it gets darker /lighter depending on where you move... but .. blue /grey DPC colors.. hmmm that's not good.

Hi Leaf! Great shot. I gave you a comment on the photo without the border. I really like it and don't see anything you can do to make it better.

hey, forget about the border, this pic is a very good shot. i dont know from your details what exposure/compensation you used, but i like it, it works. a shot like this is very easy to mess-up, but you have'nt, well done. And well done EOS 10-D
