As some of you know, I've retired from microstock... got my last check from Shutterstock today.

Anyway, what I want to know is what to do with the photos I had at the microstock sites?

Can I use them at Alamy and others?

If so, how long should I wait?

Any other thoughts?

I think 6-12 months, to allow any of your photos previously downloaded to "clear" current media. I don't think you can ever offer an exclusive license on them any more.

you can obviously not license them as Rights Managed at alamy because someone may want to buy an all time all locations exclusive image but that would not be possible.

Royalty Free on alamy would be the way to go

Sweet...

What is the average payout on RF at Alamy?

Based on a recent poll the average is anywhere from <$75 - $220

Remember though that alamy earnings are almost always refered to in the SALE price, and not the amount that the photographer receives (like micro earnings are referred to) so the amount the photographer receives is 65%-45% of that depending on if the sale was through a distributor or not.

So finally, the average earnings per sale on RF image is from under $33 up to $143 - for what would be the equivalent to an extended license on the micros (for comparison)

You might want to check these guys out. They're just getting started so I don't know how they'll do. But they offer a large percentage of the sale.

Well, I got the notice today. I'm good to go on Alamy. Uploaded 4 pics about a week ago. Bugged Cindi a lot and am now a Alamy photographer.
