took some shots of stuff today and when processing them, noticed a hair type mark on every picture.

So took some of the bright sky to highlight - adjusted some levels to further show dirt and look ->

is this just dirt or scartch? how can I tell?

I changed lenses and still there. gave the mirror etc a blow and wipe but still there.

Pretty likely to be on the CCD.. Does the D100 have mirror lockup for cleaning? (I assume it does.)

I haven't had to clean my sensor yet, but I did use a smaller blower on the inards of the camera to clean dust off the inside of the eyepiece just above the mirror. That worked fine; if it's any help..

cleaning the CCD is a process in which you MUST be very careful. I found out I got tons of stuff on mine while shooting between f16 and f32 last night. I have one of those squeeze bulb blowers and will try to knock most of it out.

If that does not do the trick you have to get some of those PEC pads and cleaning solution and be EXTREAMLY carefull

here are a few links on the subject

The D100 has mirror lockup if you have their accessory power supply. Otherwise, you must use the "B" shutter speed to get to the CCD.

First blow off the CCD and test it again just like you did before.

If it hasn't gone away then I'd suggest getting proper supplies such as "Sensor Swab" and Eclipse Pec-Pad Photo Wipes. I got mine from my local camera store but I'm sure they must be available online, too. The boxes say they are mfg in USA by Photographic Solutions, Inc., 7 Granston Way, Buzzards Bay, MA 02532. (Edit for a typo)

A dirty mirror DOES NOT affect the final image, don't forget. If your mirror is dirty, then you will just see dust while taking the pic, but not ON the pic: infact the mirror is only used to see what you are pointing with your camera. Actually, when the mirror turns while shooting, some dust may be shot onto the open CCD and make it dirty.
Just use very carefully an air bulb blower and nothing else.
The Canon 10D has a menu item: "CCD cleaning" that lets you "see" the CCD and operate on it.
