For anyone who's wondering about how much you can do with wide angle vs. zoom lenses, I recently took a whole bunch of shots of the same game from the same spot in the stands, very close to the top of the stadium.
This was shot at 10mm:
And this was shot at 200mm, with a 1.4 teleconverter, for 280mm equivalent:
That's effectively 28x zoom.
Copping also helps - the first one is the full frame, while the second is about 40% of the frame.

I think the field one is a great shot, and adding those stars really adds to the experience, |
