My kid has a PS2, I don't know anything about them. He puts in his game disk and hits the X but it doesn't read the disc. Just shows the Memory Card (PS2)/1.
Is there a reboot or something?
Thanks

if the machine is heavily used then i think the drive has failed.
i had mine repaired by a local game shop for a price. my friend had the same problem and all he did was turning the ps2 upside-down and it worked.
try putting the CD in, then turn the ps2 upside down before powering it ON. it might work... |

I LOVE THIS PLACE!
My son's PS2 has the same problem. Now I gotta try that! ...even though my solution was to let him talk me into buying an XBox 360. Doh! I still want to keep the PS2 because it's got the only game I enjoy anymore: Red Faction II. |

The turning the game system upsidedown is in effect removing the dust build up from the lens of the optical pick-up from the player. It is one of the main failures of the PS1 and 2. Also the complete failure of the optical pick-up will soon follow if the dust remains. |
