Hi,

A bit of harmless chit-chat for the forums. Please keep ratings out of 10 and a little explanation if possible is always helpful :) I'll go first:

Avalon: 5/10

A movie with a Hong Kong production team and a Polish cast. Nice cinematography but it's all a bit brown and green.

It's to do with a video game that people live in (like ExistenZ) and form alliances within also. I wish i understood it more but it's not that great to warrant my full attention.

Superbad. 9/10. Sophomoric humor at its best.

Wild Hogs

7/10

Funny movie but the story line was a little slow at times.

Flyboys

WWI movie about some young pilots, based loosely on a true story. The cgi sometimes looks like a video game but overall the special effects are good.

The story is lacking, and much of it is unconvincing. But, if you're willing to put your brain on standby and you have a big widescreen T.V and good surround sound system it is an entertaining watch despite its glaring flaws.

Hmmmm.....an old one...the Name Of The Rose with Sean Connery! Interesting story line. I'd give it about 7.5/10!

Hot Fuzz was great!

Last movie I saw was "Bourne Ultimatum" - 8.5/10
It's a good ending for the trilogy.

If you are looking for a good comedy, I suggest "Kung Fu Hustle".

"El Laberinto del fauno" or "The Labyrinth of the Faun" - 9/10...

A fantastic and very visual tale - a must see for everyone who loves pictures (and the story is great too)

Yeah we call that Pan's Labyrinth over here. One of the best movies out there IMO. Stunning film.

The Prestige 8/10
The Illusionist 10/10

Both movies about magicians. Both excellent. I just liked The Illusionist better.

Sunshine 10/10, which says a lot because I rate movies really really low. I believe I laughed out loud after reading the plot line because it sounded so stupid. But this is a real movie... it's about people, it's about life, the plot just carries the story forward and it never seems weird when you're watching it. I also believe the mood your in when you watch a movie is important. If you want T&A, pick something else, if you want cool visuals, pick something else (though the effects are great, they just aren't the story), but if you want to be entertained by someone else's imagination and see the worlds they can create, this is a great movie.

Double Feature!!

Superbad 8/10 (Hilarious!!)

and

Hotrod 7/10 (Awesome if you already know and love the comedy trio that made the movie, others might find it pointless and boring)

Story isn't at all historically accurate but it's still a cool story. The visual style is amazing, 9/10 is an understatement (Joey Lawrence isn't quite up to par with this, yet). This movie also has a way with evoking emotion, despite it's testosterone driven slashfest mentality. It got mixed reviews and some people say it was great, some say terrible, but I'll tell you one thing... anyone who sees it will remember it for a long time.

I have seen it twice, most recent was a couple days ago, and I don't really remember much of it. It really wasn't all it was 'hyped' up to be in my opinion. I think I would rate '300' somewhere between 6-7. It was better than an average movie, but wasn't all that and a bag of chips.

I loved it... well, i skipped through all the talking parts like the bit with the counsel, the bit where his wife got 'seduced' by that guy, and the subsequent court thingy. After the first time seeing it these scenes held little appeal.

Still, it's a beautiful movie with some stunning shots in it. The story was good although there were certain elements that annoyed me, like the deformities of the counsel and the 'freaks' they insisted on putting in randomly, and also the size of Xerxes- i would have liked a more factual interpretation... still, it gets an 8 from me.

Harry Potter & Order of the Phoenix

Best of the bunch so far - Daniel Radcliffe IS Harry Potter, watch the older films and see how much he has come along.

8/10
