For anyone interested in buying a new 40D over in the UK the best price I've seen so far is on Play.com at £769.99 Delivered

I've never bought anything this big from play.com before, but everything else I've bought from there has been very good.

I've bought a monitor and a camcorder from them before with no problems. The delivery is a little slower then others though as it comes from Jersey I think

I thought that price might be too good to be true!
Personally I am waiting to see the pixmania price, even if its a bit more you get a two year warrenty - came in handy when my 350D got the dreaded err99.

But there is a serious error for Pentax K10D.

Its IN STOCK at Calumet and Pixmania! (apparently...)

£894 at Pixmania But I reckon that will drop in the next couple of weeks. It has a 2 year warrenty here as well.

I have never heard of them, but apparently they are ok. Not imports either...

Well I saw one in the window of London Camera Exchange today.

I wasn't strong enough to ask what they would charge for it - and they didn't have a price on display - but it shows they are hitting the shops.

From the front and top it looks exactly like a 20/30D

I don't know about over in the U.K., but in the U.S. most (if not all) stores (online or brick-and-mortar) do not have them in stock. They seem to get a few in once a week and they are sold within minutes. This also includes the new EF-S lenses that were announced at the same time as the 40D.

How is it over there across the pond? Do the stores that you folks are mentioning have them in stock?

I havent enquired personally (yet!) but I think the situation is much the same as I understand it. But there seems to be a steady trickle of cameras coming in.

I am getting well excited, I havent ordered it yet but I will soon! I havent looked, but does anyone know if the manual is online yet? I could use some bedtime reading...

They are also throwing in a free ipod shuffle with every 40D ordered. Which is another £49 off if you wanted a shuffle anyway.
