Are there people on this forum who make most or even all of their income from stock photography? If so, I'm curious to hear what a typical day for you entails. How much time do you spend setting up the shoots and planning what to photograph? How many shoots do you do in a week or month? I'm considering putting more effort into stock and am curious what a day in the life of a stock photographer looks like. I know every day will be different, but a general breakdown of where you put your efforts would be helpful. Thanks!

Check out the profile/interview of Yuri Arcurs - supposedly the #1 microstock photographer in the world.

Yuri lags behind Lise Gagne. Answer to your question - it's a full time occupation from dawn to dusk. Ambition in this job as in any other knows no bounds.

Yeah, Lise is my hero and Yuri is an amazing stock photographer as well. I considered writing to them both directly or posting a thread over there as well, but wanted to put out a general question on these forums first.

I know stock photography is a full-time occupation if you want to do it successfully, but I'm curious what percentage of time is spent on which tasks, in general.

As opposed to clicking the UPDATE button here all day? :)

The best part about refreshing my stock page is that the number never goes down. ;-)

Did I mention that DPC stock photographers are both brilliant and sexy? That sounded better than "bump," didn't it? :-)

Lise sells only on IS, Yuri on 16 .... I think he sells more images on a daily base than Lise

well I am a 50% stock photography. The rest comes from weddings and real estate and other types of photography.. but i like stock the most and am definatly considering doing only stock.

Once a shoot is done, it takes a surprising amount of time editing. If I had 3-4 shoots a month i would probably be busy all the time with getting the shoot organized, shooting, keywording, editing and uploading.

I love the free lifestyle and the challenge of creating images that sell
