Just pre-ordered my Canon 40D !!!!

Nothing to do now but sit around and wait for it to be delivered....it's going to be a LLLOONNNNNGGGGGGG month...expected delivery end September.

Congrats. I'll have to decide between that and a 5D. I think the 40 would have enough resolution for my needs, plus it's cheaper and more versatile (debatably), but the 5D is... a 5D.

Where did you preorder it from? Few places I called do not take preorders yet... Too bad it's not gonna get there before my trip to Germany...

Ya, I have been drooling over the 5D for a long time now - and then the Mark III came out (which is WAY out of my price range) - but when I saw the 40D had a number of the Mark III features (LCD size, live view, etc.) at a reasonable price, I just had to jump on it. It will be a nice upgrade from the 20D.

Amazon.com is taking pre-orders. I have been using the Amazon VISA for a number of years and have quite a few gift certificate dollars saved up, so I'm getting I nice discount on the camera. I usually purchase most of my camera equipment from B&H, but they are not accepting orders yet.

Congrats on the order! Keep watching the price on Amazon in case they have specials in the meantime. I pre-ordered a new 160Gb personal media player last week (to be released September 1st), and this week they lowered the price $20 so I emailed them and they gave me the discount.

I was looking at the low price of the 30D (~900 CDN after rebate) and then the new features of the 40D. I want the 40D.

Actually, I want a 5D with similar specs (6.5 fps) but I don't know how long I can wait.

I got my 30D the week it was out - if you order from a west coast store you'll get it 2-3 days sooner than from an east coast store.

I plan to wait...at least till mid-october :D

I'm doing good at paying cash for my camera goodies this year..but that means I'm not making much of a dent in my debt from last year...

WOW! I must have gotten on the first inventory batch - mine has an estimated delivery of September 21st (shipping 9/20). You may be able to pick it up somewhere else sooner than mid-October.

I ordered it yesterday from Amazon and the estimated delivery is Sept. 4th. Earlier they weren't expecting to have the camera until Sept. 20th so I don't know what changed, but I am really happy. I have been going crazy since my camera stopped working. Just a few days longer...

Berger Brothers has already made their first shipments and is waiting for their second delivery. Amazon should have already shipped their first orders. Ritz is now shipping, you can get a Saturday delivery. I would expect many stores to have them this weekend.

I ordered mine thru Samy's but may regret it. Seems neither they nor BH have any idea when they will have them in stock. If I see 40D's at Best Buy or Circuit City this weekend I will likely jump ship and cancel my order with Samy's.
