Bye Bye!

it's about time he took the deal ... from what I've read, they had a ton of great evidence against him ... no way he was going to beat the charges if he decided to fight ...

Hes only going away for 1 year, and the odds of him serving a full year are quite slim to none I would say. And the fine is only something like 350k, which is chump change.

Says who? The terms of the deal have yet to be announced. And also this is federal time. You know mandatory minimums. I think it will be more like 5 years. You watch!

The original deal that was put on the table was 18 to 36 months, and his attorneys are working on getting him less than a year.

You know what the average jail time for dog fighting in Delaware is? 0 years

Most people end up with probation and a fine, and they aren't allowed to own a dog for 5 years.

He was the money man and he was betting on dog fighting in other states as well. We will see Monday but I can't see the judge just giving him a year. And at this point the attorneys have nothing to do with it now, it is all in the judges hands and he can sentence him up to 5 years for this.

We will see...

" Vick's attorneys have been negotiating with federal prosecutors over terms of the deal, which must be approved by the judge. While prosecutors can recommend a sentence, the decision ultimately rests with the judge.

The plea would help Vick avoid additional federal charges.

Federal prosecutors had offered a deal recommending an 18- to 36-month prison sentence. Vick's attorneys were trying to reduce that to less than a year, two sources told CNN earlier on Monday."

According to CNN.

The judge has already stated that he's "not bound" by the sentencing guidelines so I'd bet the sentence will be light.

Personally, I think they should give him the same treatment he gave those dogs.

As for playing football again, if anyone ever deserved a lifetime ban from the NFL, it's Michael Vick.

There is no way they will give him a lifetime ban. If Pacman Jones can be involved in shooting 2 bouncers and beating a strippers at a club, then Vick will still be playing football.

True but all the talking heads say the Judge will stay close to the "Guide lines".

Oh yeah this only deals with the federal laws. There is still the possibility of state charges. I doubt it but it is a possibility.

Yup life time ban is good with me!

Wasn't the NFL already talking about banning him if he was found guilty of gambling charges? I think that's the big no-no for them. Additionally, I think the NFL is feeling pressure to take action because of the negative publicity on this.

Just some observations from skimming the headlines and grabbing a paragraph or two in the paper.

No idea. But honestly, Pacman Jones and his boys paralyzed one guy, and I dont know what happened to the other, and as far as I know, he just got a suspension.

Too bad he doesn't play for Dallas. He could have run dog fights while raping women and beating children and got nothing but a 2 game suspension.

Plus, if he was in Dallas, they would just blame it on T.O. anyway.

lol you forgot the drugs
08/20/2007 04:02:57 PM · #16
No, they dont let their football players use drugs, only their governors!!! POLITICAL BURRRRN!
08/20/2007 08:30:15 PM · #17
i'd have rather seen it go to court and get fully charged for it. Why the #@$! did they offer all the other guys deals to get the scoop on him if they would take a plea???

If there is any justice in this world, the judge likes dogs better then they like football!

the NFL makes me sick! last night, on CNN, they were talking about how the NFL is more concerned about his gambling than the actual act of killing dogs!!! wtf?!?!?

08/22/2007 08:06:52 AM · #19
Because him killing dogs isnt against the rules of football, but gambling is - especially with what is unfolding in the NBA right now.

The only reason he took the plea bargain was to avoid the RICO suit that he would inevitably get hit with if he didnt. That RICO charge would be the nail in the coffin of his NFL career, without it, I think they will have a very hard time banning him for life.

More then likely he will receive a multiyear suspension (5 years MAX, probably closer to 2 or 3) and will return to football in prime QB years (early 30s seem to be when QBs really get their stride and consistency)

Unfortunately for Mr. Vick, QB's seem to hit their stride after playing into their early 30's.

Maybe he can play in the prison league.

It really is going to be a matter of what charges they end up getting him on with this plea bargain.

Except Vick won't have the experience of a 30 year old QB if he misses all those years. Age is meaningless without experience. Heck, he's not even a QB. He's a RB.

ETA: too slow.

I dont know. If suspended I think we will see a very different Michael Vick upon his return - especially if his suspension is longer then any jailtime. Its not like he wont be training during this suspension. I think he would even be more improved. Imagine having the ability to work out and train exclusively for a year straight. He will come back a lot faster and a lot more powerful I would say.

But again, who knows if hell ever leave in the first place.

Part of his sentence is to autograph every license plate he presses out.

Any team that signs him instantly becomes my most hated team. I can't see any fans backing a team signing him.
