Does anyone in here have experience with that type of lense?
you can have it for 399$ comparing to a 1300$ 24-70mm f2,8L from Canon its a great gap.

I know there is a diffrence in quality but is it worth a 1000 bucks?

Funny Naz, I'm wondering nearly exactly the same thing at the moment. I'm considering the Sigma 28-70/2.8 EX..

Unfortunately reviews don't actually show comparative technical details, which I'm most interested in..

The Canon 28-70L/2.8 gets a grade of 3.9 on PhotoDo.com.

They don't have a 24-70 listed - did you mean the 28-70?

The Sigma 28-70/2.8 EX gets a grade of 3.0.

Also, the Canon has the advantage of USM.. The Sigma doesn't come with its equivalent, HSM.

Be interested to know what you decide.

I own a Sigma 24-70D 2.8 EX Aspherical lens... and I love it. It is my "workhorse" lens and I use it a lot. I use it on my Nikon D100.

The quality is excellent, the constant 2.8 is great.... my only complaint is finding (and paying for) 82mm filters. (many of my pics. in this contest were take with this lens).
Hope this helps!

here you can see info about the Canon 24-70mm f2,8 wich i was talking about.

I think I´ll go for the Sigma simply because I cant afford the Canon, and I was hoping I would get reasonable quality for that little amount og cash.

B&H have some special price on the Sigma 24-70mm @ 399 i think

Drake: Thanks for your opinion

I have that lens, too. the 24 - 70 /2.8 DG EX and it's awesome. Very crisp, very sharp at most apertures. That is the lens I use whenever I have to take 'critical' shots. And it's nice to have the 2.8 for lower light situations.

One thing that might surprise you is how big and heavy it is. However, that's the case with any constant aperture 2.8 lens.

Also, as Drake said, the filters are really pricey (i.e. $50 for a decent quality filter), because they are as big as drink coasters. Therefore, the only filters that I personally own are a UV protector and a 2-stop neutral density.

There is a good review of this lens (and many others ) on popularphoto.com.

GOod luck!

Ahh, thanks. I like the GIF showing the difference between 24 and 28. :-)

Yeah, ditto. It's essentially about £1000 difference in the UK too, which I don't think is worth it just for somewhat higher quality and faster focus.
