Just came upon this site.
Art of most forms are accepted hear, including photography.
Contests with prizes.

| I'm still recovering from several months at fanartreview. In order to post something you have to pay member dollars, the more you pay, the longer it is allowed to be listed. Takes a long time to "earn" dollars by reviewing. There are many talented photographers there, but the highest ranking ones are the people who have time to make a lot of friends there and post average pics of their housecat or flower garden. So glad I found this site (yesterday). Can't wait to figure everything out and get started. |

| I agree. FAR is set up to be very competitive but the system is very unfair. In order to post your image, you have to earn "member dollars" by reviewing other people's work. If you actually do a good job at this and really look at what you are reviewing (instead of doing what I've seen many prolific posters do and just paste in a pat review on everything!), it is extremely time consuming but posting with mucho dollars(you get paid that amount when you review the work) is the only way to get attention and get yourself ranked and your work recognized. As Cynthiann said, the highest ranked aren't necessarily the best. They are often just the ones who have the time and money to review and post prolifically(sp?). Basically, they are buying votes and usually high scores because people don't want to take the high bucks paid and say something negative. So, for all those reasons and a few more, I think this site is set up much better and offers better exposure of your work. |
