So, I'm making a slideshow of pics for my hubby's bday surprise party. And I have never used powerpoint before. I've created about 10 or so slides with pics and text, and then I had to turn it off and save it. Now when I open it back up in powerpoint, it won't give me the option to insert a new slide. What on earth am I doing wrong? I'm sure it's something so silly that I'm just not noticing, since I have almost NO idea what I'm doing!!! If anyone has any suggestions, let me know! :) Thanks everyone.

press ctrl+m
Or maybe you saved it as a read only. Re-save it and try again.

Now it says "this command is unavailable until you renew your license. Does that mean I just have to register the program? I'm such a dork. Thanks for your help. :) |

That's odd. Is it a trial version? If not, it might be time to buy it.

Weird. As far as I know there is no such thing as a 'trial' version of any MS Office software. Are you sure it's MS Powerpoint you're doing this in and not some other presentation software? |

From the evil empire's support site:
"This behavior occurs because Powerpoint requires product activation to offer the user full functionality." |

If all you want is a slideshow, how about //www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx (for free)
or //www.photodex.com/products/proshow/ (for $30)
BTW, Zoombrowser has a slideshow feature

Which sounds a lot like a trial version. Hmmm.

Not really a trial. Any of the more recent MS products need to be activated or they stop working (or go into crippled mode) after so many uses. I guess that's a trial, but its not really presented as such. |

I think there is a trial of office 2007. If the original poster does have a trial and does not want to pay for the full version, try Openoffice which is free and compatible with Powerpoint. |

There is a trial version for Office 2007... lasts 60 days... then of course you have to spend the inordinate amount to by the program... |
