i know i haven't been on the site long, but i've decided to put it to an end.

i'm in my last quarter of photography school and i've been very busy developing my portfolio, so sometimes DPC is a distraction from things i should be working on, lol.

also, lately certain people on the site have been pretty rude to me, to the point that i just can't take it anymore. it's just becoming another stress that i don't want to deal with.

i hope that in the future i can come back to DPC, but for now there's too many things i have to worry about.

i'll miss you all, and i hope to talk to you again soon :)

No need to delete, just take a break.
We'll leave the light on for you.

Nah, don't go. Just learn to ignore those assholes and move on. What issues have they been rude over? Has this been in the forums?

hey

sad to hear that. I think u should just chill on the DPC front a bit, come back to it when u see a good challenge. Forget the idiots, it is the same everywhere. u get good people, u get bad ones.

Hi Carrie,
ditto what Brad and Eric have said.

I just checked the comments you've received on your challenge entries. There is certainly no rudeness there.

I wish you all the best for the future and hope you come back to dpc.

you COULD delete your account... but why?

if people are being inconsiderate jerks, let SC apply the brakes for you - we don't want those kind of people here either, so please don't (A) take away a good person while sticking us with (B) some people we don't need.

Also, forgive my bluntness - why let someone else dictate or affect your own happiness; don't put up with it. whether in real life or online, one shouldn't have to avoid a place they enjoy just because someone ELSE also likes that place.

Best of luck to you, and I hope you stick around.

lol Eric, I agree its not doing anything to just let your account sit around who knows you may decide to come back one day or may want to join in a GTG someday.

lol Eric I love your post I thought about leaving at one time but learned to do just what you said, I cant leave here cause I meet so many nice DPCers and most recently a DPCer here showed me around his town and gave me a place to crash for the night. I dont think I can find a better place to learn from and to meet other photographers.

Cassie,

I agree with everyone else, take a break, get your schooling done and come back and knock our socks off! You have a great eye and loads of talent. Don't let anyone push you around. If someone is being immature then report them to SC, they'll take care of that right quick.

Hope to see you stay,
Steve

You could ebay your account. That is a nice user name. Not that I'd buy it.

Also, the SC might not like you selling your account/username. Sort of like cybersquatting.

Don't do it. There are only 6 members from Dayton, OH and two of them have never entered a challenge. Take a break and come back when school is done. Heck, you could even find that one of your school images fits a challenge and would be worth entering.

Since she's already left, with your permission, I'd like to steal the thread and ask a question, that might have something to do with etiquette.

Photo geek with a sexy brain complained about people being rude to her. Well, let me simplify and say they were rude. So, there are rude people here.

Now, some people here tried to give some courage to her and support her stay here and what not. Nothing wrong with it. But, the way they want to sideline the rude people is by calling them assholes and idiots.

My question is: who are the rude guys? I know, but do you know?

Note: I hope you understand that this is a rhetorical question, so please think about it, I don't believe I need answers.

I will miss her, as she gave me some nice comments, and was always polite to me.
Come back soon, Cassie, and you know there are some nice people here for you to get in contact with.

I just hope that I wasn't one of those rude people, as sometimes what I say sounds pretty rude.

I feel the same way about rudeness.

It's not really in the DPchallenge website. My experience was on the personal emails I received after mentionning that his photo doens't meet the challenge (like 70% of his comments).

Some submits photos that need a paragraph to explain the philosophy behind and the reason why they meet the challenge, instead of behind obvious. So after some bad comments or some DNMCs, they like to get their frustration out by becoming complete jerks in their communications.

But it's like everything, there is always a jerk somewhere.

I won't say that I am not agree with the rudeness but if you think, not two persons are same. They have there own way to think and there own way to present there thoughts. We have over 60,000 users and may be 10,000 are regular users who take part in the challenge, provide comments etc and out of those may be 20% provide feedback in constructive way, some do not take part in the process and some write what they feel to write and might not be in the sync with what we want. I think we should listen to them it is possible that we might get something out from the comments that we feel its rude. "Listen to everyone and do what you feel good and right".

Too late, she hit the delete button.
Now I'll never get her to see me say anything nice.

It's not fair, I don't even know who she is, or what happend.

Ray, Nick, thanks a lot... But, as you see, I failed miserably, because you didn't need to read what I wrote, and those who needed, didn't. Anyway...life goes on...

she left because of two different times fellow dpcers have gone to far
(she is my girlfriend and a lot better of a photographer than I am)

1. someone suggested she stole the image that would have won a ribbon if the time was right on her new camera. (this was in a thread)

2. the more recent, someone (you know who you are) pmed her and really ripped her a new one because she said in the forums that she doesn't enter many challenges because all of her work is heavly photoshoped. this person seems to think that by using photoshop makes her less of a photographer and less of an artist. seeing as art is her life, this really hurt her

in short, she left because of the reason why most have been leaving recently.

I love this site, and have been around a long time now. I have seen many popular groups come and go. I fear my time may be coming to a close soon too, I am trying to stick around through these growing pains but some people need to learn that their views are not always right and need not to be forced apon others.
just because we use a lot of photoshop doesn't make the final image wrong or lesser than those images that are not.

yehaw let the drama begin....
