Hi all,

I'm working on writing a Wikipedia article about DPChallenge. I need some reliable, citeable sources I can use to cite within the article itself, and to establish notability as required by Wikipedia guidelines.

To that end, can anyone please provide me with some reliable 3rd-party news items I can site? One example would be DPChallenge's listing in PCMagazine's 2004 100 Top Websites You Didn't Know You Couldn't Live Without.

Thanks,
~Terry

Also..EZ Print partnership article

I may be on the wrong track so I'll stop for now. :]

Link please, or is this a paper publication? If it's paper, could you scan or photograph it and send me a copy, along with the necessary information to make a proper citation?

The E-ZPrints press release is good... since the first is a personal blog and the third is really just a link, not an article, I probably can't use those, though.

I guess it's just a paper publication. I can't find a link to it on their website.

Do you have access to a paper copy? If not, I'll ask Joey.

Thanks,

It's kind of indirect, but there might be a way to document how DPC participated in helping Operation Photo Rescue get going.

Terry, here's a profile on me from another site, Digital Image Cafe ,
where DPC is noted: Digital Image Cafe Profile: Robert Mann . Not sure if that is what you are looking for.

A big problem I see is that this could be seen as a self-promotion (in the Wikipedia sense - includes promoting a site or organisation you have involvement in, not just yourself as a person) and/or a conflict of interest, which could result in the article being deleted even if it cited reliable sources. See, for example, Wikipedia's pages on
* What makes a website "notable" enough for inclusion in Wikipedia (WP:WEB) (having reliable primary sources isn't enough)
* Conflict of interest (WP:COI)
* External links - advertising (part of WP:EL)
* Wikipedia is not an internet guide (WP:NOT#INTERNET)

As a DPC participant I'd like to see a DPC page on Wikipedia, but as a Wikipedia editor who has participated in discussions about article deletions (WP:AFD) my gut says that it has a good chance of being deleted. It may be worth getting some advice from Wikipedia editors not involved in DPC before you spend too much time on the article.

Good call, and I'm aware of COI, EL and NOT. I've reread them and I'm comfortable that I can write with a NPOV -- remember also that I don't have any financial interest in DPC.

As far as WEB goes, DPC meets criterion #2 (he website or content has won a well-known and independent award from either a publication or organization) based on the PC Magazine Top 100 Sites. Still, I want to take a belt-and-suspenders approach to this, so I'm also working on #2 (The content itself has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the site itself). I know we're covered on that (I remember in particular a local news station somewhere did a piece on DPChallenge, but I still need to find that).

Nice!

Can you send me a photo or scan of the full page on which that appeared, as well as the necessary information (title, author, publisher, copyright year, ISBN) to make a proper citation?

There is an article in a UK magazine in which Alex saberi is interviewed, and if I remember rightly mentions that it was DPChallenge that sparked his real interest in photography. When I get home in a couple of days I shall try and dig it out; I can't remember which magazine it was, but it was around April/May of this year.

Was it Babyboss? I just googled and it came up, but I can't get to the article.

I would have thought that there must be a mention of Judi and her covereage of the flooding in her area earlier this year somewhere on the net, also what about the drama surrounding Stdavidson back in 2006 Steve Davidson found safe?

Dont know if this is the sort of info you are looking for?
