I'd be interested in getting some ideas on how to get these results. I have tried many times and have had some success but the on in this post looks particularly good.

Hi
one half is really a pencil sketch, I did to see how I can use clutch pencils for sketching rather than normal HB type pencil.

The other half is part of the photo i used to do this sketch.

(since it was just a small sketching excersize, I used a part of photo and merged them in photo to create the one i put on my profile.)

If it interests someone this is photo of Keri Russell.

No. I didn't get the reply to PM.
Well, I thought the sketch portion was a Photoshop work.
Incidently, is it possible to have this kind of effect in Photoshop?

I came up with this PS action that gets pretty close looking, maybe a little more tweaking would be a good finish. (like "Find Lines"). There is a link to the action with the 1st pic.

It seems there is a problem with email/pm system. I am afraid many of pms have not reached their destinations.

Anyway I did a little bit work on the colored portion of that image, and mirrored it to get this effect. This is 10 minutes effort so you might get better results than this, if you work with it.

This is what I did:

desaturate
crosshatch
gaussian blur
brightness/contrast
levels

Here's a tutorial that looks very good! I have not tried it yet though myself.
