For the love of Mike! Somebody please prevent the 3000 view thread and change the wording! I like the idea, but as a fluent speaker of English I already don't know what "upside right" means. How about if you speak Polish as your first language?

I'm with you there.

What the heck is 'upside right'?
08/01/2007 12:29:17 AM · #3
I think maybe they meant "right side up," as in the opposite of "upside down."
08/01/2007 12:38:09 AM · #4
it's a riddle. the three that actually figure it out will be the ribbons :P

Subjects better be facing right or I'm handing out some DNMC's!
08/01/2007 12:41:39 AM · #6
You're too liberal. The challenge clearly states that the top of the subject must be on the right side of the frame. Stop taking the challenge out of the challenge!

It's better than being Upsides Wrong.

no no its the photographer stands on his/her head and turns the camera upside down, making the subject rightside up

How will you know the difference between someone doing this contortion and someone taking the picture in the normal fashion?

I think the subject needs to be right side up but the background must be upside down.

Can anyone give a picture example of this challenge.... it's totally confusing! But if I were to guess then I would say it's the photographer pointing the camera down on the subject?

I think this is what they mean,

So you mean, we have to rotate our subject by 180 ° and then turn the picture upside down? Yay, no landscapes in this challenge!
08/01/2007 07:40:11 AM · #15
Wouldn't taking a photo with the camers upside down and the subject right side up be that same as taking a normal shot and turning it 180 degrees - upsidedown. I'm confused. Or is the challenge in the subject and how you make it original upsidedown?

Also should your subject be rightside up in when you are taking the photo upside down or in the finished product (you flip the photo)?

So am I getting this right, the background should be upside down but the subject should be right side up. So both the photographer and the subject are hanging upside down. I need to find myself some monkey bars!!!!!
08/01/2007 08:04:05 AM · #17
It says the subject should be "upside right" whatever that means but I don't think it means upside down.

This is clearly aimed at Judi, Sherpet and others Down Under...

From the faceless challenge i learned that it's better to just stick with the titles and not their details(Thanx to the people who suggested this)So i guess i will only have to think about UPSIDE DOWN!
And please correct me if i'm on the wrong track!

Unfortunately, for most challenges the details matter. This may not be one of them.

I had my go at what it means earlier in the thread. I think for this one it's going to be anyone's best guess.

The voters, as well, won't have a clue.
