Hi everyone!

I searched a lot through the forums for questions about this particular flash unit but I didn't find very good results. So I thought I'd ask away and you can point me to more information.

I am surprised to not find many owners of this flash on this site. I have heard only good things about this flash and I am looking for someone with personal experience to confirm that.

I don't really use flash very often but there are times for casual photography where it would come in very handy. This particular unit looks very good and cheaper than Canon's 580. One question I have for this unit (or any other units in general) is about using this off camera. I know that this flash doesn't have a sync cord. Do you think that an off camera shoe cord would be good enough if I want to use this flash off camera?

Here's the bigger question. I think this flash works very well as a slave unit. Do you think I can use the on camera pop-up flash to trigger the Metz unit in slave mode and make use of its eTTL functionality? Do you know of any other units that can work that way (Sigma 500 / Canon 580, etc.)?

Do you recommend other alternatives such as the Sigma 500 for something cheaper than the Canon 580? I think Sigma unit lacks some features compared to the Metz flash and that's why I'm seriously considering buying one.

Thanks for the replies.

Hmmm... no info anyone? Bumping one last time in case people missed it first time around.

Thanks!
