I hope there are some folx around here who work in hospitals...

I start a clinical next month as part of my school program and I need solid white leather tennis shoes to wear. Are there any hospital people here who have a favorite to recommend?

Did they specify that you had to have tennis shoes, or can any type of shoe be worn?

I'm not a hospital person, but when bernard was recently in the hospital, most of the nurses and staff wore crocs in various colors.

Doctors, of course, wear whatever they want. :)

I love crocs but I can't wear them while i'm representing the school unfortunately. They can be tennis shoes or something like Rockports, but they just have to be solid white.

I like Avias. Of all the shoes out there they feel the best on my feet.

here is a website you can check out for shoes.

I work 12 hour shifts at the hospital and find for tennis shoes - Saucony or New Balance are best. Rockports are good too from what I have heard.
I have flat feet, knee troubles, and back tgroubles...so a comfy pair of shoes are essential. I just ordered a new pair of Saucony's over the internet last week - waiting for them to make their way to Alaska still.

K-swiss makes solid whites, and you can always find Reebok classics in solid white.

Addidas has some solid white tennis shoes...the Stan Smith line comes to mind.

Yup these Crocs are all the rage these days...

Crocs are the best. They are ugly, but they walk like you walk on bare feet..

Too bad you can't wear them.

I love the Sketchers work line...thats where I got my shoes that I wear to my 12 hr clinical days...they were (and still are!) a lifesaver!

When my wife worked at the hospital, she usually wore white birkenstock clogs or dansko clogs.

I swear by New Balance. They are one of the few tennis shoes to offer different widths, which can make a huge difference if you have wide feet. They have really cool looking shoes, but also very plain shoes which is probably what you're looking for. A cross trainer or running shoe would work nicely and be comfortable. Check out this pair for starts:

AHHHH, yes the white, white, whites! GOD I hated our nursing uniforms for school (1997). Went to the ONLY place the guys could buy them and get to see our choices. Did I say CHOICE. That's not right. We HAD to wear ugly white pants and a dentists looking shirt with to breast pockets and 2 lower larger pockets, and it zipped up the front! The zipper was sick too (except white)
The lady that ran the shop said that they had not updated the Men's uniform since 1968! The year I was born! YIKES

As for shoes...definitely find the most comfortable you can find. Running shoes are usually real good (if have to have white). A co-worker swears by the Nike Shox. I wear hiking boots or trail running shoes (makes sense) now. I hate those Crocs! Depending on where you are working, steel toes are nice also! I have ran my toes over many times with ED gurneys and without would have a broken toe(s).

You will see these around too

White MBT's
These are the most expensive shoes I've ever owned, but you will NEVER find a pair more comfortable. And they are good for you. Not to mention you can get "replacement parts" should you ever need.

I've got bad knees and feet that swell just for fun. These are amazing!!!

The majority of my friends (RNs, MDs, RPhs, etc.) wear Dansko shoes. I can't even imagine wearing anything else to work. Great support, and although they do come in all white for the "clinic" they also come in tons of different styles. I buy a new one every year (different styles). :)

Here's a couple just to give you options.
Marcelle style

Pita style

There are other styles for both men and women! :)

If you like Dansko shoes, you'll love MBTs. I have two pair of Dansko and still love my MBT's best.

Ooops. I guess I should have checked who's asking...the examples I picked were women's shoes. ;)

They do have Dansko's in men's also. The MBTs look interesting though, Bergiekat. :)
