When i was turning on my phone after a flight from Moscow this weekend there was someone trying to send me a file (via bluetooth). I accepted the file. But once i saw it was a *.sys file or something like that i removed it right away (without opening the file). And then the same person tried to send it again and again (I did not accept it more than once).

It dident stop until I was at the baggage claim.

- The cellphone seems ok after this. But you never know, maybe someone is logging all my calls and sms.

Anyone experienced something like this?

Three questions:

1. Do you remember the full filename?
2. What model phone?
3. Why would you accept a file from someone you don't know?

EDIT: Inserted question 2

Did you read this?

You might check your bill, to make sure you aren't being charged for whack calls or unusual text messages.

Dident catch the filename or type, all i remember is that that the filename and type looked suspecios. It was not a image og video file someone was trying to send me. I remember the bluetooth nickname was something like "Krishnaa"

b:

Nope, but now i have.

As i can read out of that article; if people send me a sms and I reply, my phone automaticly sends out a virus (as a mms) to the reciver?

One article I read said that the Msbir virus replies to the SMS for you, so the receiver thinks it is from you but it's really the virus. Another article I read said that a different virus making it's way around in Russia just plain sends text messages to services that then charge your cell phone bill for those services, without any other intervention.

What does your "text message sent" count show? Is it going up without you actually sending any yourself? Is your bill getting hit with unusual charges?

If you're infected with THAT virus, then most likely, yes. There are other virii for S60 phones, but this one matches your situation well.

I'd recommend having someone with a NON-Symbian phone (and unlimited messaging) send you a text or MMS message, and see if they get a reply (if they do, they should of course delete it unopened). I'd offer, as I have a non-Symbian phone, but I don't have unlimited messaging.

Alternately, do you have your contacts, etc., backed up? If so, there may be some kind of "hard reset" you can do on the phone to restore it back to the factory install.

I havent got the chance to review my phonebil yet since this tok place last weekend. I have not reported anyone reciving suspicios messages from me.

I tried to Google and it seems if reciving the file is not enough. You must open and install for it to make any harm to your phone.
