NOw that is what I am talking about!

Awesome Brad. Did you just go down to the park, or were those shoots already set up?

dang I just recently removed my only shot in my portfolio, I'll try and get it posted again, it was going to be for the Jump challenge but I backed out.

Nope, just wandered down to the local skate park, went down in the bowl and shot away. It's a rare day I set anything up.

You could try getting down low and panning.

It's tough when you try to shoot yourself though!:

Not that I do any of them well but we come across skaters every so often.

To make a professional looking skate/bmx photo, you'll want to use artificial light (flash/strobes) most of the time, but sometimes natural light can work.

The general rules are, you want to see who the rider is (their face), where they are (enough of the spot to give some context), and what they're doing (the trick - it can be hard to time shots if you don't know what a trick is supposed to look like, or if the rider sucks like I do, but watch them for a while and try to shoot it somewhere in the middle). An appealing composition always helps, too.

Try to avoid ass shots, or guy-in-the-sky pictures. Watch your horizon unless there's a good reason not to (there rarely if ever is).

Look at some of the photos on here for ideas, but they usually create the shot with artificial light and I'm not sure if you want to go to all that trouble.
