How would I accomplish the following?
Out of curiosity sake, let's say I went backpacking and wanted to take a very long series of pictures, at a set interval (say 2 minutes) to create a montage. What would I need to automate this process? ie How do I automatically trigger the camera till it runs out of space or juice.
I'd imagine I need a trigger or remote (maybe modified). The camera has to be a compact and takes AA's. And i guess I need a good method to secure it to the pack or my body hands free. Is there a camera with an internal feature that already will do the automated interval trigger ad infinitum? Hopefully an older an inexpensive model?
Any suggestions?

You want a camera that has an intervalometer. My Canon G5 had one, my 10D has one via the TC-80 Timer Controller. but I don't know of a AA power option for either one |

Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking it has to be AA powered as I would have power problems after the first week. If AA at least I could get batteries along the way. I vaguely remembere hearing about an intervalometer feature somewhere. I think I would need it in a compact as I would have to lug it around everywhere.
Does the intervalometer feature just keep taking pics until the space or power runs out?

Ok I tracked down a Pentax Optio 33WR that has an intervalometer. I'm not certain how cost feasible this will be. Considering the camera will last 2hrs per CRV3 on "record" mode. I'll need 3/day. Over 3 and a half weeks. 3x7x3.5x4$ = $294 for batteries alone.
Maybe a film camera with this feature would be more cost effective. Do compact film cameras have this feature? |
