I'm shooting a Wedding and they want me to shoot RAW, Is it better to buy 1GB or 2 GB cards or something higher does the higher one's affect the Pictures quality I saw 4GB and up.

Thanks

No change in quality. But if you're shooting raw, the files are bigger and you can fit fewer on a card. I shoot nothing but 4G cards now.

Definately worthwhile having the biggest cards you can afford. If you don't plan your shots you could miss an important moment whilst you're changing your cards over. And as David said, it's just storage so there's no difference in quality.

Be prepared with your 20D to shoot at least 8GB. Yes, that's a LOT of files but you'll be glad you did when you get back home.

BTW, I use several 2GB cards.

I use 2G cards with my D20. I get 200+ exposures per card. I carry 6 cards which is usually enough. Since I have had cards go bad on me, I believe carrying 12 g on 6 cards rather than 12 g on fewer reduces my risk of loosing pictures since my eggs aren't all in one basket. It really only takes a few seconds to change cards. I haven't found any difference in quality between 2 and 4g cards.

BTW: All my cards are formated and batteries charged before a shoot. Both my unused, pre-formated, cards and charged batteries are sealed with blue painters tape to indicate they haven't been used.

i don't use anything any bigger than 1 GB cards. if the card corrupts for some reason, i would much rather only lose 1GB of photos than 8GB of photos. i carry a handfull of 1GB cards regardless of the type of shoot i'm doing. it only takes a few seconds to change the card and 1GB cards are dirt cheap now.

What does the firmware/bios of the 300D support size wise. 1GB might be the roof?

It's at least 2GB. That's what I used in my 300D.

Well thats why i asked, Even though standard SD cards goto 2GB, many older cameras that use SD cant use a 2GB card, they can be limited at any increment if the bios does not support addressing a card that large. Compact flash is a different standard but, addressing it is the same concept.

Just out of curiosity anyone know what the max the 300D, is stated to support, and also the most anyone has used personally? Im just curious gonna go google it.

ETA - Read some stories, files being corrupted past a certain number of files! Heard of 4GB cards being used.

the 300D doesn't use SD cards...it uses CF cards.

On the other side of things How big a raw file does the 20D make 12mb or so?

20D is about 8M raw file.
5D is generally between 13-15M each.
So far, the Mark III has been around 11-13M each.

Many of you may know about this, but Strobist/MPEX has a rebate deal on cards right now: linky

I just bought two 2GB 133x's. I didn't go for the 4GB for cost reasons. Plus I hate waiting for large rebates.

Overstock.com seems to have some pretty good prices too.

I only use 4GB CF cards. When they get full and I back them up on DVD, they are the perfect size to fit on a DVD!

I use a 4GB CF and a 2GB SD in the 1DMKII, I use a 2GB in the 10D and I have a 2GB and 1GB as backups. I never shoot raw and rarely have a need to swap cards while out.
