Ok, here's a question for all the wedding shooters out there. On average, how long is your turnaround time from a wedding to the time the images are ready for the couple to see?
Thanks!

2 weeks usually, but I have quite a few coming up so that may be a bit longer in future

Generally I tell the Bride 4 to 6 weeks just to give myself some room for getting the prints (if required) and if I have more than one wedding I'm working on... but to finish up a wedding it's really a matter of how many images you need to touch up / effects you want.

hope that helps :-)

Here in Utah, the wedding ceremony is often between about 9am and 2pm. And the reception starts around 6:00. So I often have pictures of the bride and groom up and running in a slide show by the time the reception starts!

Granted, it's a quick selection of about 70 of the best images of the day and some really quick processing using Lightroom (so the images aren't perfect). But they are certainly of displayable quality and my slideshow gets a LOT of attention at the reception.

After the day is over, I begin processing (sometimes reprocessing what they've already seen). And then I upload full-res images to smugmug (which also functions as off-site backup) for the bride and groom to see.

From start to finish, it usually takes about two days time. And that's without editing anything! (I mean, no photoshop)

As you can see by my other thread (Share your 7-7-7 Stories) it only took me a day to get these images online (they are also uploaded to my website). However, in this case, I'm only the "second shooter". I would imagine it will take the main photographer more than a week to get through everything.

I generally say 21 days. If things are a little quieter then you can always knock them out early, but if you have a few weddings in a row then it's worth while giving yourself the extra time just in case!

I'd say it depends, usually I'll say 4-6 weeks to give myself plenty of cushion, but it rarely takes that long unless I have a lot of work to do (custom album layouts, etc) and I'm busy on top of that.

For my own wedding, we picked up our album about 2 weeks before our first anniversary.

I know of some photographers who shoot with a wireless setup and constantly transmit images of the ceremony to their assistant sitting in the back who is putting together a slideshow for the reception with the images as they are being shot.

As a general rule I say 3-4 weeks.

We have the images available after 5 -6 days, the album takes considerably longer (upto 8 weeks, maybe more at busy times)
