I ahve just resigned up with Hollywood Stock Exchange hsx.com and thought it would be cool to play with some DPCers. for those that don't know HSX is a fictional stock exchange that uses movies and actors from Hollywood. you are given $2 million to start with and you make trades and try to make profit.

for instance you can buy brad pitt and maybe he will have a blockbuster and his stock will rise or maybe it will flop and your stock will fall. you can also buy movies as well. you can buy them a long time in advance (often when they are very first announced) so you can guess at whether you think that new rambo movie will actually get made or even make money.

there are also short term stocks. for instance you can buy shares of Fantastic four $60 call. this is referring to the opening weekend so if it makes over $60 million then the stock pays out at whatever the opening was -60. so if you bought the share for $1.00 and the opening was $65 million then you would make $4.00 per share.

Wow, I haven't thought about HSX in ages. I wish I had time to join you, it was rather fun.

on your portfollio click on my leauge and add the name you want to add. it is case sensitive.

you can jsut ad anyone you want. not really a league like here. more like a list of people you want to compare yourself against.

I went alittle crazy...I'm out of money. Tried to buy some Tom Hanks stock and saw I could only afford one...haha.

I'm up $6000+ already today. That Pirates 3 stock is a goldmine.

Nice! I'm now down to a gain of $5300ish for the day :(. I should buy more to gain more.

Edit to add: Evan Almighty is tanking right now, it's my biggest loss. I'm hoping it'll go up when it releases this weekend.

you should spend all of your money. you can't make it in the bank. remember that you have to pay commission so don't sell at the smallest proffit but don't be afraid.
