Hey everyone,

I just rented a Canon 70-200mm 2.8 IS USM. It seems to be locked at 70mm. Can't zoom out at all. I didn't see a "lock" on it though. The last time I rented one it was fine. I definitley do not want to force it. I know quite a few of you have this lens. Any ideas ?

thanks,

As far as I know, no Canon zooms have a lock. I'd just crank it as hard as you can and see if it loosens.

JUST KIDDING! Take it back to the renter and exchange.

my 70-300 has a lock on the side to keep it from sliding open while you carry it. Check on the right side of the barrel for a lock switch, it might be the same with your lens.

My 100-400 locks by twisting an element on the barrel of the lens, but i don't know if the 70-200 has the same thing. It has the words "Smooth <--> Tight" written on it.
